Visiting Paris with a Baby or Toddler: Things to Do & Getting Around
EspañolFrançaisDeutsch日本語Italiano
Paris is a wonderful city with a little one — you just plan the day a bit differently, around naps, snacks and stroller-friendly routes. Here's what to actually do with a baby or toddler, plus the practical tips that make the trip smooth.
The best parks and playgrounds
Green spaces are a toddler's Paris. Start here:
- Jardin du Luxembourg — a big fenced playground, a vintage carousel, pony rides and little sailboats to push around the pond. The classic Paris-with-kids spot.
- Jardin des Tuileries — carousel, pony rides and, in summer, a small funfair. Central, right by the Louvre.
- Jardin d'Acclimatation (Bois de Boulogne) — a gentle amusement park made for young children: small rides, a little train, animals and playgrounds.
- Jardin des Plantes — wide, flat paths for the stroller, a small zoo (the Ménagerie) and a huge natural-history hall of animals kids adore.
Gentle attractions little ones love
- A Seine river cruise — babies are soothed by the movement, toddlers love the boats and bridges, and the boats are stroller-friendly. A stress-free way to "see Paris".
- Cité des Enfants (at the Cité des Sciences, La Villette) — a hands-on discovery space with a dedicated 2–7 area: water play, building, soft zones.
- Champ de Mars, under the Eiffel Tower — room to run, a playground and a carousel; perfect for a picnic while the grown-ups get their tower photo.
- Carousels everywhere — beautiful ones sit by the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur and the Hôtel de Ville; an easy win when energy dips.
Disneyland Paris with a toddler
It's more baby-friendly than people expect: gentle rides (It's a Small World, the carousel, Dumbo), a Baby Care Center for feeding and changing, and "Baby Switch" so both parents can ride while one waits with the little one. Arrive at opening, plan a midday nap back at the hotel, and come back for the evening.
Practical tips that save the day
- Plan around naps. One big morning activity, a proper midday break (a park or the hotel), then something gentle. Don't over-pack the day.
- Changing & feeding. Department stores (Galeries Lafayette, Le Bon Marché) and shopping centres have baby rooms; most parks and museums have facilities; cafés are generally welcoming.
- Strollers vs the metro. Many metro stations have stairs and no lift — tough with a buggy. Buses have ramps and are easier, and a private car avoids the lifting entirely.
- Best time to go. Late spring and early autumn are ideal — mild weather and lighter crowds than midsummer.
Getting around — and from the airport
Arriving with a baby, luggage and a stroller is a lot to juggle on a train or in a metro full of stairs. A private transfer gives you a free child seat (baby or booster), room for the buggy, and a door-to-door ride from Paris CDG, Paris Orly or Paris Beauvais straight to your hotel — no lifting, no changes. For a packed day or a trip to Disneyland Paris, a private car keeps everyone comfortable and on schedule.
